Guess I'll kick this off with the Evolve trailer.

Personally hyped as hell for this game, comes out this month.

I can't view the trailer at the moment, but from the looks of it there's a very Borderlands-esque art style to it, so cool. Actually have yet to hear of this...

It's similar in play-style to Left for Dead. The game centres around combat between a party of four "Hunters" versus one "Monster". This can be done in single player or multiplayer, and you can be on either side of the equation.

The four hunters are all of a different class. There's the "Assault", who deals damage, "Medic", healer, "Support", who focuses on buffing the team and getting them out of bad spots, and the "Trapper", who focuses on immobilizing the Monster. So far there are three different hunters to play as per class, and all can be levelled up and upgraded individually. All have their own unique weapons and abilities.

The Monsters also come in many varieties - you have guys like Goliath who are fairly versatile brutes. Take a lot of damage, deal a lot of damage, can move fairly fast. Then you have more complex monsters like the Wraith, which focuses a lot on hit and run stealth combat, luring and decoys. These can also be upgraded as you go.

The way the game works is, the match will start with the Monster at their first "evolution". At this stage, the monster is at their weakest. The Hunters will want to do most of their damage at this stage, because the Monster isn't evolved enough to face them directly. The Monster will need to run away to begin with, attacking only sparingly, feasting on local wildlife in order to speed up his evolution ect. The wildlife can also attack both the Monster and Players, and there are also birds which can give away the Monster's position if he eats too frequently.

When Stage 2 rolls through, The Monster and Hunters should be on pretty even pegging as to who can win the fight.

When Stage 3 rolls through, the Monster has the Hunters by their balls in any kind of direct fight - they really live up to their name at this point in the match. When this happens, a power relay becomes available to destroy as well. If the S3 Monster successfully destroys this relay, it can win, instead of having to kill the Hunters. The Hunters need to keep the relay defended while pursuing the Monster itself.

When one side dies, it's game over. Looks to be a very tactical game with a different scenario playing out every single match. Couldn't be more excited.

Ikr Happy

I haven't played any Arkham games but they look stellar. I played the hell out of Shadow of Mordor, which is meant to have an Arkham-esque combat mechanic, and I have to say it was one of the most fluid fighting mechanisms I've ever seen in a game.

The Arkham games are well made and enjoyable, but extremely repetitive.

You might be right, Mandarin, but they are still great.

Just finished Shadow of Mordor recently, and it blew my expectations out of the water.

I've been hearing a lot about Shadows of Mordor in recent weeks, but have yet to actually check it out myself. Is it really that good?

You will have a blast with it, I have no doubt. If you aren't the type to blitz through games quickly, even better, you'll get a lot of play time out of it.

I'll warn you, it isn't a story-heavy game. There is a story there, and it's good, but the main reason to play this game is because it's just really fun. The Nemesis system isn't like anything that's been done before, the Orcs are hilarious, and the combat makes you feel like a badass.

What type of game is it? (Genre-wise?)

Action role-playing. Set in the Lord of the Rings universe, so fantasy elements are found here and there too.

Basically what swords said. It has a lot of good elements in it, but the story isn't fantastic.

Personally, I really liked the Nemesis system and I hope that they can make more games with it to make it better.

Anyone been checking out the new Dragon Ball Z game? I hope it's good. I can't remember the last DBZ game that I really liked since the Budokai series.

Reviving this thread.

I've been playing a lot of Arkham Knight recently and it's amazing. I absolutely love the Arkham series, and Arkham Knight is far and away superior to them all. Everything that City had that was awesome has been taken to the extreme. Combat is better, flight is better, the environment is better, enemies are more challenging, etc etc.

And, of course, the story is fantastic. Definitely the darkest of the series by far. I haven't finished it yet, but it seems like a fitting send off for the Dark Knight so far. Up

Prolly because it's a copy/paste of the previous 3.

Not just that, they also said the batmobile could get boring, that there wasn't enough predator mode and the plot was less than stellar.
